Privacy policy
How we look after the details you give us when you call, message or fill in our form. Last updated 25 September 2026.
Who we are
This website belongs to Motorhome Windscreen Repair and Replace, a mobile motorhome windscreen repair and replacement service run by Mike Leslie. We're the "data controller" for the personal information we collect through this website and when you get in touch with us. That means we decide how it's used, and we're responsible for looking after it.
We follow UK data protection law: the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
For anything about your personal information, call us on 0191 524 6621 or write to us at 11 East View, Roker, Sunderland SR6 9JZ.
What we collect and why
When you fill in our contact form
Your name and phone number, the make, model and year of your motorhome, what's damaged, where the motorhome is, anything else you tell us, and a photo of the damage if you add one. We use them to call you back, give you a price and arrange the job.
When you call, text or WhatsApp us
Your phone number and whatever you tell us or send us, such as photos of the damage. We use them for the same reasons: to answer you, price the job and book it in. WhatsApp is run by Meta, and its own privacy policy covers how it handles messages sent through it.
When we do the work
Your name and phone number, the address where we do the job, your motorhome's details and registration, and a record of the invoice and payment. If you're claiming on your insurance, we also note your insurer, your policy or claim number, and the details your insurer needs about the damage.
When you browse this website
Like every website, ours records basic technical details when a page loads: your IP address, your browser, the page you asked for and the time. We use them only to keep the site secure and working, not to find out who you are. We also count visits with Pirsch, a cookie-free analytics tool that doesn't identify you.
Reviews
The reviews on this website were posted publicly on our Google listing. We show each reviewer's name as it appears on Google. If you'd like your review taken off our website, tell us and we'll remove it.
Our legal reasons for using it
UK data protection law says we need a lawful reason for each use of your information. Ours are:
- To quote for and carry out a job you've asked for (a contract, and the steps before one). Without your details we can't give you a price or fit the glass.
- Our legitimate interests: answering enquiries, keeping a record of each job in case you need us again or there's a problem later, and keeping this website secure. We've checked that these don't outweigh your own rights.
- The law: we have to keep invoices and business records for HMRC.
- Your consent, only where we ask for it, for example before using a photo of your motorhome on our website or Google listing. You can change your mind at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your details or pass them to anyone for marketing. We only share what's needed with:
- your insurer, if you're claiming on your policy;
- the companies that provide the services we run the business and this website on, such as our website host, the email service that delivers form enquiries to us, and WhatsApp if you message us there. They can only use your information to provide that service to us;
- our accountant, to keep our books;
- the police, courts or other authorities, if the law requires it.
Cookies
This website doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, which is why you won't see a cookie banner. The only cookies it may set are strictly necessary ones: security cookies that protect the site from automated attacks, and the cookies WordPress uses when our own team logs in to manage the site.
If we ever add cookies that aren't strictly necessary, we'll ask your permission first and update this page.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 12 months. Contact form entries are deleted from the website automatically after 12 months.
- Job records and invoices: six years from the end of the tax year they belong to, because HMRC requires it.
- Insurance claim details: for as long as your insurer needs them, and no longer than our job records.
- Photos you've agreed we can use: until you ask us to take them down.
Keeping it safe
This website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, so what you type into the form is protected on its way to us. Only the people who need your details to deal with your enquiry or job can see them, and our accounts are protected by strong passwords.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of the services we use, such as WhatsApp and our email provider, may store or process information outside the UK. Where they do, it's protected by UK adequacy regulations or by the contract terms the UK government approves for these transfers.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, unless we have to keep it by law (invoices, for example);
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it;
- ask for a copy of the information you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we've asked for it.
To use any of these rights, call us on 0191 524 6621 or write to us at the address above. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. We may need to check who you are before we share anything.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first and we'll put it right if we can. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113, or ICO, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if the way we use your information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
